Early Years

Insertion

The teachers at Villa Grimani International School strive to make the transition to Early Years as smooth as possible. In this new and diverse environment, children need to feel safe, confident, and cared for. As children, they quickly learn that becoming part of this new environment is a fun and joyful experience, and the teachers quickly become like a second "family." To facilitate the transition for your child, who may be experiencing their first time away from home or their first contact with English-speaking people, we offer a gradual transition program for Pre-Nursery, Nursery 1, and for new children enrolled in Nursery 2. You will be informed of the exact day your child will begin their transition DURING THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS.

General advice

Starting school may seem difficult, but it's a normal phase and WILL pass. Changes in sleep, mood, or eating habits are common at the beginning, especially after the summer holidays. Your child may say they don't want to go to school; it takes time to adjust, sometimes even weeks or months.

We advise you to remain calm and accompany your child to school regularly, without giving in to requests to stay home. Don't lie, be calm but firm: bid your child farewell affectionately and leave calmly. If you're upset, your child will sense it and will have a harder time separating.

Remember: children often calm down shortly afterward and begin playing happily. Parents, however, are left with your worries! Lighten up: it's a normal phase that everyone goes through. Work with the teachers: we're here to support you and your children.
