Homework

Capacity building and development

Homework is a fundamental part of education.
The functions of assigning age- and level-appropriate homework are many:

  • reinforcement of concepts learned in class

  • development of the ability to work independently

  • development of the ability to organize and manage their free time

  • development of the ability to verify one's own learning

  • ability to finish unfinished work within the time available in class

We ask parents to encourage their children to complete all homework carefully. Parents should support their children, but not do their homework for them.

How tasks are assigned

Homework – Reception Class: Once the children are ready, in the second trimester, the teacher will begin assigning them enjoyable English and math exercises once a week to complete at home with their parents. She will also give the children reading books at various levels to take home, study, and share with their parents and family members.

Homework – Grades 1 and 2: Children are assigned math and spelling exercises once a week, as well as Italian homework.

Homework – Grades 3, 4, and 5: Students are assigned math exercises twice a week, history, geography, and science study material once a week, spelling exercises once a week, and Italian homework.

Children are asked to try to practice reading their booklets every afternoon at home, and parents who listen to them are asked to write a comment in the reading log.

Children's workbooks are sent home when requested for study purposes and regularly so that parents can review them to monitor their work at school.

Children who do not complete their homework assignments will be asked to complete them during recess on the day they were due.
