Recess and lunch break

Children have a 15-minute break each morning, during which they enjoy a snack (primary school children bring their own snacks from home, while the Reception class uses a snack provided by the school). This is followed by another 15 minutes of outdoor play, under constant adult supervision. At lunch, during the first 30 minutes, children eat their well-balanced meal, always provided by the school, and then have another 30 minutes to play, let off steam, and recharge for the afternoon activities. During outdoor play, children remain under the constant supervision of their class teachers and support staff.

General information
  • At Christmas, every child, from toddlers to middle schoolers, participates in one of our fantastic Christmas shows! Parents and families are, of course, welcome to attend and enjoy the show.

In spring, a special Fabulous Friday is held during which all the children, starting from Reception class, put on a short show or singing performance for their classmates and parents.

  • In late spring, Villa Grimani hosts its traditional Sports Day, an event during which children from the preschool and reception classes, and first and second grade classes, participate in various sports competitions and games for all skill levels. Parents are invited to watch and cheer on their children!

  • Evaluation is part of our daily practice aimed at improving teaching quality. It helps us constantly monitor:

    • the quality and effectiveness of our teaching methods

    • the quality and effectiveness of our support and teaching strategies

    • children's progress

    • the knowledge and skills acquired

    • the skills acquired

    • the level of commitment of students to their work

    • the sense of responsibility shown by the students

    • the consolidation of students' strengths, abilities and aptitudes

    • the aim of helping develop the “weaker” areas.

Ongoing assessment is an integral part of the curriculum and a commitment to each child's progress. Teaching, learning, and assessment are interconnected, and the primary purpose of assessment is to enable students to continue and develop their learning. The teaching staff follows a comprehensive assessment program for every student in the school, and each child, starting in preschool, has their own personal "skills portfolio." Documentation relating to our assessment system is available upon request.

  • Evaluation documents are prepared twice during the school year, in February and June. It's always possible to schedule an appointment with teachers to discuss the contents of the evaluation documents.

  • At the end of each school year, primary school students take an internal end-of-year exam in Italian, Mathematics, and Topics. These exams are taken IN ITALIAN to assess their learning level. These tests are not recognized by Italian state schools for the purpose of advancing to the next grade.
At the end of the fifth grade, to obtain the qualification and move on to the first grade of secondary school, students must take an external exam at the State School, as our school is included in the Regional Register of non-state schools.
